Period 4 Honors History Grade 6 (Period 4) Assignments

SUMMER HOMEWORK??!!  (no, not really! :)

****OPTIONAL- Legacies of Greece EXTRA CREDIT PROJECT!********

- Read directions CAREFULLY and see me if you have questions!

- This can count for EITHER English OR History 

- It has the potential to raise your grade a couple points if you do a great job on it

- make sure you take NOTES in your OWN WORDS, write notes on NOTE CARDS for your presentation, create a visual aid with images (remember your source list!), and REHEARSE what you are going to say!

- do not even think about asking for late credit for this project...there will be no extra time because my final grades will be due!

Finish drawing pictures to show the types of government we discussed on the Government, Citizenship, and the Economy in Athens worksheet we started together.  You do NOT need to finish the rest of the front or the back

- use your notes AND his Biography 8-10 bubbles

1. Finish What Was Life Like in in a Chinese Family? Notes and add at least 2 margin questions (you should have finished this in class)

 

2. Bubble Map about Confucius (use pages 288- 289)  8-10 bubbles to show what is most important about him and what he taught

HISTORY SPRING VACATION HOMEWORK (due 4/22)

1. Chandragupta and Asoka Biography Bubble Maps (Ch 4 sect 3) You can create one bubble map on each side of a piece of paper. Read about them where they are highlighted AND read their biographies! Choose the most important information to include (about 10 bubbles each)
2. Work on the Ch. 4 India Notes Packet. This will be due about a week after the break. Please note: I have the review worksheets and you will get them back after the break. Also, we have not completed the Indian Achievements G. O., Ch. 4.3 review worksheet, nor the Ch. 4 Review assignment. We will work on those in class after the break.

*****EXTRA CREDIT due 4/22- must be a FINAL DRAFT product! This means you have edited, revised, and typed or rewritten it neatly in blue or black ink!

**1. India Rhyming Song or Rap- Complete a rhyming song or rap about what we have learned about Ancient India. Include, underline, and show the meaning of at least 10 vocabulary words from the chapter. Remember: the rhymes go at the ends of lines and there should not be off topic information.

**2. Creative Research Project- Choose a few of the people and/ or achievements of Ancient Egypt or Ancient India that interest you. Do some more research about them from at least 2 sources OTHER THAN the textbook (use the LAUSD Digital Library, the links on the textbook’s website, and/ or WebPath Express from the library’s website). Include and underline at least 8 vocabulary words from the chapter in your project. Be creative, add visuals as well as written information, document sources used, and write everything in your own words! Create one of the following to show and tell about the information you learn:

2. THURSDAY, 4/11: PTSA's Spring Fair 4-6pm AND Open House 6-7:15 pm. I would love to see students with their parents at the Fair and Open House! :)

Add details to your 4.2 vocab list in correcting pen and remember to STUDY.  Remember, if I circled and/ or drew an arrow to a word, then you are missing some of the most important information about it!  Go back and read about it!

Complete the vocab. list for chapter 2 section 3, but you do NOT need to do the people yet.  We will start the people together on Monday and you will be finishing that part after we go over them a little bit.

 

2.  STUDY Ch. 2 Section 2 Vocab. And Notes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

2. Finish and study Egyptian Medicine notes (pg 168)

- you have to write your own this time!  We started it in class together

- remember to write the headings (ex: Locating Places)

- remember to underline and number words (1-11)

- check spelling of vocab. words especially!

- follow all the same directions as usual for finding the definitions

(Directions and example attached here in case you lost your directions that should be in your binder all year!)

 

 

- REMEMBER to write answers TWICE- once in the puzzle and once beside the clue!

 

2. Finish notes from page 214 and write margin questions if you did not finish in class!

 

1.  Finish A Troubled Time Outline notes (you should only have the last one or two paragraphs to finish!  The outline format is attached below in case you forgot to copy the last part!)

 

2. QUIZ  About Ch. 3 Section 2!!!!! Study Vocab., the Kings Chart, and Troubled Time notes.  This is just a SHORT section quiz that will not be worth more than 20 points!!!!  But you still need to remember to STUDY (every night)!

HISTORY Winter Break Homework DUE Monday, January 7:

 

1. Complete Chapter 3 Section 3 Vocabulary List. Remember to follow the same directions we have in the past: rewrite the terms, write page numbers where they are highlighted, copy complete glossary or gazetteer definitions, include extra details from the text in note form

 

2. Make a LIST of all Chapter 3 assignments. Study, organize, and add to your Chapter 3 notes and assignments. We will finish up chapter 3 the week after break, and there will be a notes packet due about a week later.
