Winter Break Homework.  Finish reading "The Outsiders" and complete reading logs # 13- 16.  Completed logs (typed or NEATLY hand-written will be due on Wednesday, January 14th). Please see Reading Log template attached.

Please re-read pages 8 - 15 in The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, paying close attention to the descriptions of the characters.  If you did not have a chance to complete your log entry in class, please complete it as homework.  You should have two log entries at this point.  The Reading Log is double-sided.  You will need a total of 16 logs.

Please re-read Chapter 1 and the beginning of Chapter 2 in "The Outsiders".  You should have 3 log entries.

Write a "journal-type" entry from the point of view of one of the characters in "On The Sidewalk Bleeding"  by Evan Hunter who faces a conflict.

Please turn in your ONE-PAGER BOOK REPORT and WORKS CITED PAGE on Tuesday.  Review the rubric to make sure that you have all the components for your project.  You must have a "Works Cited" page on the back of your BOOK REPORT with the information for the book in MLA format.  The One-pager is worth 100 points. The MLA Works Cited page is worth 20 points.  If you have a book, you will use Print. at the end of your citation.  If you have a Nook, iPad or other electronic reader, you will use EPUBfile.  If you have a Kindle, you will use Kindlefile.

Please bring new Book Report Book (Fantasy or Science Fiction genre) to class today (Thursday).  You may have a "paper book" or Kindle or Nook.  No ipads, ipods, or cell phone downloads allowed.

Please read 20 or more minutes in your new Book Report Book.  Enter one log entry on your blue Book Log.  (If you don't have your Book Report Book yet, please choose another book to read and write your quote on a separate piece of paper.)  Bring book and log to class tomorrow!

We will be attending the Book Fair during class today.  This a great chance to pick up a Fantasy or Science Fiction book for your Book Report Book if you were not able to bring your book yesterday (Tuesday)!  Please make sure to bring your Book Report Book to class again on Thursday (tomorrow).

Look over the Mystery/Science Fiction/Fantasy Section of the pink Book List.  Choose a book to read for your up-coming book report.  If you changed your book over the week-end, that's OK -- just let Mrs. Wright know!  Attached are some additional titles from which to choose.
