Math Academy

Admission for the 2024-2025 School Year

The accelerated test for Math Academy will be given on March 5th and April 2nd at 2:30 (students may only take the test ONCE). The form below will begin accepting responses on FEBRUARY 9TH, once the results of the Charter Lottery are released.

- Place value
- Rounding whole numbers and decimals
- Prime factorization
- LCM & GCF
- Simplifying fractions
- Converting fractions to decimal and decimals to fractions
- Comparing decimals
- Comparing fractions
- Adding, subtracting, and multiplying decimals
- Adding, subtracting, and multiplying fractions
- Order of operations (basic)

 

IF ARMSTRONG IS YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD/RESIDENT SCHOOL, YOU MAY APPLY TO THE MATH ACADEMY BY TAKING THE HIGHLY ACCELERATED MATH TEST. TO CHECK IF ARMSTRONG IS YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD/RESIDENT SCHOOL, GO TO THE RESIDENT SCHOOL FINDER: RESIDENT SCHOOL FINDER

 

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN APPLYING TO THE MATH ACADEMY, AND ARMSTRONG IS NOT YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD/RESIDENT SCHOOL, YOU FIRST NEED TO APPLY TO THE AFFILIATED CHARTER SCHOOL LOTTERY. **THE ON-TIME APPLICATION FOR CHOICES 2024-2025 OPENS OCTOBER 2ND.**

WHEN THE APPLICATION WINDOW OPENS, GO TO ECHOICES.LAUSD.NET CLICK ON "AFFILIATED CHARTERS" AND FIND "LOUIS ARMSTRONG MIDDLE SCHOOL." 

 

IF YOU ARE ADMITTED TO LOUIS ARMSTRONG MS VIA CHARTER LOTTERY (OR IF ARMSTRONG IS YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD/RESIDENT SCHOOL), YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO TAKE THE HIGHLY ACCELERATED MATH TEST AND JOIN THE MATH ACADEMY.

Louis Armstrong Math Academy Mission
 
The mission of the Louis Armstrong Math Academy is to offer enriched, rigorous learning opportunities through English, History, Math, and Science with an emphasis on advanced math. As a team of teachers working with a small learning community of students, we foster a love of learning and guide students as they develop stronger character and peer relations. Math Academy students actively participate in learning experiences, both in and out of the classroom through field trips, and community service opportunities. Students graduate from the Math Academy on an accelerated math schedule, prepared for the rigors of high school honors classes, and have greater understanding and appreciation for the world around them.
