It is a requirement that all students view this video prior to riding the magnet bus. This video was shown to magnet students who take transportation on August 29, 2013.

hi boys and girls my name is mr. Cole and the most important part of my job is to make sure I get you to school safely but I can't do it alone I need your help so for the next few I want you to pay close attention to this video we all want to make sure that you're safe going to and from school first thing you must do is follow the safest to and from your bus stop always use crosswalks and traffic signals and never talk to her take rides from strangers if a stranger should approach you you tell me your bus driver immediately be prepared to get on the bus at your assigned location 5 minutes before scheduled if the bus left your stuff or doesn't come within 15 minutes return home or carefully walk to the nearest school and call bus dispatch at 1 800 La buses that +1-800-522-8737 this number can also be found on your bus ID card which is sent to your home before the school year begins again the number is 1 800 La buses that's one 805 - 28737 kids the one thing you must always do is show respect for the property around the bus stop never where are walk on planted areas showing respect for others and their property is the first step in showing respect for yourself also never run towards the bus always wait for the bus to come to a complete stop and the door's been open board the bus and single file without pushing and remember always hold on to the rail you're welcome see you later okay let's go to nurse just to be safe now in case of an emergency we want to show you some ways to make sure you stay safe the first thing in any emergency is to always remain calm remaining calm will help you in any emergency to get through it safe and sound let's practice a few drills one it's called take cover if the bus driver says to take cover here's what you have to do first place your fingers together then bring them behind your neck and then bend over and place your face in your lap this will protect your head face and eyes from injury stand that position into your driver says all clear another type of emergency may require you to evacuate the bus quickly again remember to remain calm also always know where the safety what meat is located on the bus like the first aid kit and the fire extinguisher if you can't see the first aid kit or the fire extinguisher look for the signs on the ceiling of the bus most importantly know where the emergency exits on the bus are located always use the rotational method of exiting that means that you can take one student from each side of the aisle at a time students seated by these exits may be asked to help the bus driver by opening the exit getting out of the bus and then helping are there students using the Palms up method this allows your arms to assist others in getting off the bus the bus driver will also assist any students in wheelchairs on special buses by helping them down the emergency exits designated for are new buses come equipped with three-point lap belts which is similar to seat belts and Passenger cars first they must be worn properly so here's what you do fasten the seat belt by play the shiny metal piece into the plastic slot and make sure it clicks then give both ends a tug to make sure it's secured if there is a shoulder belt make sure it goes across your chest did not unfasten the seatbelt until the bus comes to a complete stop thank you boys and girls were paying close attention to this video all want to make sure that you're safe going to and from school LA's future rides with us on behalf of the LAUSD Transportation Branch thanks for paying attention to this video questions about bus safety call 1 800 La buses that's why 105 to 28737
